    Research

The majority of the work that I do spans four primary research areas

    LGBTQ+ Health â€‹â€‹

I focus on the health experiences and needs of sexual and gender minority individuals through an intersectional, strengths-based lens. My research explores health disparities in LGBTQ+ communities while highlighting the roles of resilience, identity, and community in promoting positive health outcomes.

    Sexual & Reproductive Health

I examine sexual and reproductive health through the frameworks of reproductive justice, harm reduction, and sex-positivity. My research explores behaviors, barriers, and facilitators related to sexual health, and aims to understand how individuals make informed decisions about their bodies and wellbeing.

    Cervical Cancer Prevention

I study how and why people engage in cervical cancer prevention services, including HPV testing, cervical cancer screening, and HPV vaccination. My work seeks to identify factors that influence participation in these preventive services and inform strategies to increase uptake and reduce disparities.

    Health Care Access

I investigate how individual, interpersonal, and structural factors influence access to health care, and how these factors interact to create barriers or support access to necessary services. My research aims to identify actionable ways to improve health care equity and accessibility.
